About us
Optiflux, we provide an innovative method to preserve and commercialize fruit better after harvest.
Our company is active in the Agrotech sector and was founded at the beginning of 2021 as a spin-off of the MeBioS Postharvest group and VCBT.
Optiflux has developed a measuring system and associated software that makes it possible to dynamically check and adjust the storage conditions for fruit, without radically adapting the existing storage location and installation. We have deployed our system on a large scale at the BFV and BelOrta and other packing houses.
The innovative measurement and control system is the result of years of research at KU Leuven, in collaboration with the Flanders Center of Postharvest Technology (VCBT) and the Association of Belgian Horticultural Cooperatives (VBT).
Optiflux technology is based on respiration models of fruit and allows to determine the best storage conditions and to predict the quality of the fruit. Based on this information, fruit producers and traders can make an informed decision about the best timing to sell a batch of fruit.
Our measurement module and associated software algorithms make the invisible visible by continuously measuring the conditions in the cold store and processing that data in a smart way. Based on the results, the system automatically adjusts the storage conditions. This ensures energy savings through efficient cooling, better storage conditions, less waste and ultimately less depreciation. Moreover, it is a fully-fledged biological process. An alternative for 1-MCP.
