AGRI-PV – Energy and agriculture combined
With AGRI-PV, we bring photovoltaics directly to your orchards. This allows you to combine electricity production with efficient weather protection. Experience our solutions live at Fruchtwelt Bodensee and discover how you can make double use of your land.
Agri-photovoltaics (agri-PV) refers to the process of simultaneously using agricultural land for crop and food production (photosynthesis) and PV electricity production (photovoltaics). This creates synergies that generate real added value in agriculture.
The solar modules used have completely transparent cell spacers and therefore allow sufficient light to pass through to promote plant growth. Partially standardised substructures can be adapted to the respective locations. Irrigation and cabling are integrated into the system.
Electricity production and protection for plants; a clever combination that increases the efficiency of land use. Overall, agri-PV produces more than if only electricity or only food were produced.
Reducing pesticides:
Pilot plants covering various crops such as raspberries, fruit and vines show that agri-PV systems reduce the use of pesticides.
Weather resistance:
The roofing with translucent PV modules protects crops from hail, heavy rain, storms and
heat waves.
Water savings:
The shade provided by solar modules can reduce evaporation and thus lower the water requirements of the plants.
Sustainability:
Solar energy from agri-PV reduces CO2 emissions and actively contributes to climate protection. Agri-PV contributes to the energy transition without destroying cultivated land.
